Five Reasons Why Football Season Makes Life Better

Like you need five reasons right? Well in case you are having trouble convincing people of the joys of football season, here are five reasons why football season enhances your life and why I personally believe that watching football increases your life expectancy.
1. Football is there for you at the darkest time of the year. Football begins in the fall, when the magic of summer has disappeared. Suddenly you are forced to face the reality that the carefree days of summer are gone. Bonfires, sunshine, and weekends at the lake are no longer part of your reality. You are slowly sinking into a deep depression, but luckily for you, your good friend Football is there for you, picking you up when you need it the most.

2. Football season turns you into a social butterfly. Fantasy football leagues, tailgating parties, being a part of a fan base. Football has a way of bringing people together. Fantasy Football leagues give you the opportunity to have a little friendly competition with friends, family, and co-workers, and if you're lucky enough, you can even make money. Or at least the co-worker who always thinks he knows best up. There's nothing that can compare to being part of a fan base. It doesn't matter what your political beliefs are or what you do for a living, if we root for the same team, we're in this together.

3. It gives you the excuse to lie on the couch all day and not feel guilty, because you're not being lazy, you're studying. You need to see every play and listen to the analysis. Because there will be a quiz tomorrow. Your boss will ask you about the game in the meeting tomorrow and he will promote you when you give him an extraordinary explanation about why the read option is seemingly impossible to defend. Well, we can all dream right? But seriously, football is serious business. Study up.

4. Football is a part of American culture. The world has soccer, we have football. It's our own unique past time. It would simply be Un-American not to watch football.

5. It gives us hope. Yes, this is the incredibly cheesy part of this blog post where I make football sound like it  could cure cancer and bring world peace. But really, football is just magical. It's different every single year. No one knows what the playoffs will bring or who will be in the Super Bowl. Every year each team has a feeling of renewed hope, and even if they don't make the playoffs, you know that next year will come, and with that your hope is renewed. Football is more than just an excuse to be lazy or waste $20 on a fantasy football league, it's an opportunity to be a part of something when you need it the most.

I know, incredibly touching, but no need to cry, football season is rapidly approaching, so hang tight.
